United States: In the latest update, the health officials from Santa Clara County have been asking the public to make sure to review their immunization records after a case of measles infection reportedly came to light who made a visit to the area last week.
Details about the case
As per the Santa Clara County Public Health Department, the infected person belong to another state and paid a visit to three locations in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.
The health officials cautioned that the people coming in close proximal contact with him potentially would have gotten exposure to the virus and hence the disease, as the Mercury News reported.
The locations visited by the person was Starbucks at 624 Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos on July 1, Taqueria Los Perico on July 1 too, and San Jose Mineta International Airport Terminal B and Southwest Airlines Flight on July 2.
Moreover, as per the health department report, an advisory was issued for those who are at potential exposure that such persons must review their immunization status, along with understanding fully whether they are out of danger from measles or not.
Moreover, pregnant women, infants, and those with weak immunity or who have not been immunized are asked to contact their healthcare provider immediately.
Additionally, every member of the area must monitor their symptoms seven to three weeks after the potential exposure, as the health officials signified.
As per the experts, the common symptoms include cough, fever, runny nose, red eyes, and rashes. Moreover, in some cases, some people even develop severe health conditions.

Dr. Monika Roy, communicable disease controller, and the assistant health officer with the public health, said to the Mercury News, “Measles is an airborne disease and if an infected person speaks, coughs, or sneezes, it becomes very easy for anyone close to that particular person to contract the disease. ”
She also said, “If you feel that you have come in contact with the virus, do not wait and consult your doctor immediately,” Roy added.
“Many more would not get sick with this serious disease if proper actions are taken with speed.
“Besides, the health department of the county is also collaborating with CDC and CPDH to identify possible cases of measles exposure and get the necessary help to those people. On success of the measles vaccine, Roy said, “The good news is those who have received the measles vaccine are very well protected. ”
The measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine (MMR), is an effective (97 percent) to offer safety after receiving two doses from measles.
