Such local cases of infection have reached the mark of seventh and eighth of the total cases noted from Lower 48 in the present year, where more than seven hundred cases have been identified as related to travel.
The infection came to light after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued caution letter for the health providers after a spike in the net cases reported across the nation, as the News York Post reported.
Almost ten million of the population across the worls have reportedly been found to be infected by the virus, the count of which has already crossed the last year’s entire total.
What more have the experts reported?
As an answer to explain the new cases that appeared in the Sunshine State, the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District has readily heightened the door-to-door inspections, along with intensive fumigation and deployment of additional mosquito traps.
The reason for dengue fever is a virus that spreads through a vector mosquito, Aedes aegypti.
The experts also noted that this particular type of mosquito is found to feed at any time of the day, irrespective of the time, which puts an additional risk to human health.
According to Dr. Stacey Rizza, a Mayo Clinic infectious diseases specialist said, “Wherever you have a significant number of mosquitoes and warm hot environments is where you see dengue transmission,” as the New York Post reported.
As acting like other mosquito-borne illnesses, this virus also has no known cure, where symptoms are treated with the help of medicines.
The CDC said, “Infection with one DENV generally induces life-long protection against infection from that specific DENV but only protects against other DENVs for several months to years.”
Why are mosquitoes thriving in Florida?
The msquitoes generaally find warm and humid weather conducive for its growth, there in Florida, which is also referred to as sunshine state, the thriving of mosquitoes has put a serious problem on the health of people living there.
During the month June, when Torrential rainfall takes place at an early part of the month, that dropped upwards of 25″ of precipitation, in almost less than 48 hours led to long-standing water in the cities for days.
Such stagnant water bodies act as breeding grounds for mosquitoes to lay eggs, where larvae give birth within the span of a few days, leading to a rise in the mosquito population in the area.
